The Rowayton Turkey Trot was founded to give folks a fun run on Thanksgiving morning around the beautiful environs of Rowayton, Ct and raise money for local non profits, whose work goes a long way to making Rowayton such a great place to live.
The first trot in 2011 was a last minute affair, attracting just 20 people, so no cash raised but a great forerunner of things to come. Since then, the event has raised over US$250,000, and beneficiaries have included:
Rowayton Fire Department
Rowayton Arts Center
Rowayton Library
Rowayton Historical Society
Rowayton Gardeners Club
Open Doors Homeless Shelter
Various local kids sports and arts programs
